Youth have similar, and yet different issues, risks, and problems related to substance use compared to adults. The often lifelong impact of early substance use makes this age group an important target for intervention.

The four Core Training modules (which review the main principles and practices of SBIRT) and the three Motivational Interviewing modules (which introduce learners to key concepts and ideas that are central to using the brief intervention) are the foundation of SBIRT training. For providers who interact with youth, you should find the supplement training module for youth informative and useful.
